Jiangmen Legal Aid Office Holds 2025 Symposium on Legal Aid Case Quality Assessment

On July 4, 2025, the Jiangmen Legal Aid Office held a symposium on legal aid case quality assessment, reviewing 2024 results and planning quality improvement. Lawyer Huo Jun attended as an expert lawyer and provided comments.

To further optimize the quality of legal aid cases, improve legal aid services, and continuously advance the high-quality development of the city's legal aid work, the Jiangmen Legal Aid Office held the 2025 Jiangmen Legal Aid Case Quality Assessment Symposium at the Municipal Public Legal Service Center on July 4, 2025. Attendees included Zhai Jiming, member of the Party Leadership Group and Director of the Political Division of the Municipal Bureau of Justice; all staff of the Legal Aid Office; leaders and responsible officials from the bureaus of justice of all counties (cities, districts) overseeing legal aid work; and expert members of the city's legal aid lawyer talent pool, Lawyer Tan Xiaoyi and Lawyer Huo Jun.

Reviewing Assessment Results and Planning Quality Improvement

The meeting reported on Jiangmen's 2024 annual legal aid case quality assessment results and made arrangements for effectively implementing the Ministry of Justice's and the provincial department's 2025 work on random quality checks and case quality improvement. Two expert lawyers specially invited to participate in the city's 2024 legal aid case quality assessment, Lawyer Tan Xiaoyi and Lawyer Huo Jun, drew on the cases they reviewed and their practical experience to comment on the results of the civil and criminal case peer assessments in the 2024 annual quality review, and put forward valuable opinions and suggestions on improving the quality of legal aid case handling. Leaders from the bureaus of justice of all counties (cities, districts) delivered exchange remarks.

Using Assessments to Drive Improvement and Comprehensively Enhance Case Quality

The meeting emphasized that legal aid institutions at all levels across the city must further deepen their understanding that case quality is the lifeline of legal aid work. They must strictly follow the work arrangements of the Ministry of Justice and the provincial department, earnestly implement the newly revised Regulations of Guangdong Province on Legal Aid, adhere to a problem-oriented approach, use assessments to drive rectification and rectification to drive improvement, effectively utilize the results of case quality assessment, comprehensively improve the quality of legal aid cases, safeguard the lawful rights and interests of the people, uphold social fairness and justice, and continuously enhance public satisfaction with legal aid work.
